On June 23, Wrocław will become the hottest city again. On this day, the fourteenth edition of the International Festival of High Temperatures begins, which is organized by the Wrocław Academy of Art and Design. It is the only open artistic event in Poland, during which masters of working with fire share their knowledge and experience with the audience, presenting their work “from behind the scenes”.

“Art with a Spark” is this year’s motto of the Festival, guiding artists and participants who, as every year, will meet at numerous demonstrations, exciting workshops and interesting exhibitions. Professional artists of glass, ceramics and metal invited from all over the world will present their skills in Wrocław on the last weekend of June. The 14th Festival of High Temperatures will last three days and will be an event open to the public.

On Friday, openings of exhibitions accompanying the Festival will take place, including in the Neon Gallery, the CSU Building (ASP ul. Traugutta 19/21), the Black Frame Gallery at Concordia Design and the display cases at ul. Świdnicka. A novelty will be an evening meeting on Wyspa Słodowa, combined with a glass blowing show using a small outdoor furnace and film screenings as part of the festival cinema.

Saturday is a demonstration and workshop day. All events on that day will take place in the buildings and garden of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław at ul. Traugutta 19/21. The program includes demonstrations and workshops that are well known to the festival audience. There will also be novelties, such as a ceramic kiln, referring to the shape of a boat, which at the climax will give the impression that it is going up in flames.

A conference entitled “The Process with a Spark” will be held on Sunday. The artists invited to participate, including international guests of the festival, will talk about their artistic activity and the process of creating works using high temperatures. The speakers will be: TobiasFlores, David Marquez, Karin Forslund, John Moran, Peter Hermanson, Simcha Even-Chen, Velimir Vukicevic, Alicja and Dmitry Buławka-Fankidejscy.

In addition, this year the festival tradition of the Tea Bowl competition is continued. The event is international, and the submitted works will be presented at the exhibition during the Festival. This year’s edition of the competition entitled “There is no beauty without a shadow”, is dedicated to the memory of Maciej Kasperski, Professor of the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław.

The Festival of High Temperatures is an artistic event organized by the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław since 2007, the idea of which is to integrate various artistic activities in the field of ceramics, glass and metal sculpture, having a common denominator in the form of high temperature.

23 czerwca Wrocław stanie się ponownie najgorętszym miastem w Europie. Tego dnia startuje czternasta edycja Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Wysokich Temperatur, który organizowany jest przez wrocławską Akademię Sztuk Pięknych im. E. Gepperta. Jest to jedyna w Polsce otwarta impreza artystyczna, podczas której mistrzowie pracy z ogniem dzielą się wiedzą i doświadczeniem z publicznością, prezentując swoją pracę niejako „od kuchni”.

„Sztuka z iskrą” to tegoroczne hasło Festiwalu, przyświecające artystom i uczestnikom, którzy jak co roku, spotkają się na licznych pokazach, pasjonujących warsztatach oraz interesujących wystawach. Zaproszeni z całego świata profesjonalni twórcy szkła, ceramiki i metalu będą prezentowali we Wrocławiu swoje umiejętności w ostatni weekend czerwca. XIV Festiwal Wysokich Temperatur potrwa trzy dni i będzie wydarzeniem otwartym dla publiczności.

W piątek odbędą się otwarcia wystaw towarzyszących Festiwalowi – m.in. w Galerii Neon, budynku Centrum Sztuk Użytkowych. Centrum Innowacyjności (ASP ul. Traugutta 19/21), Galerii Black Frame przy Concordia Design oraz gablotach ekspozycyjnych przy ul. Świdnickiej. Nowością będzie wieczorne spotkanie na Wyspie Słodowej, połączone z pokazem dmuchania szkła przy użyciu małego pieca plenerowego oraz projekcją filmów w ramach kina festiwalowego.

Sobota to dzień pokazowo-warsztatowy. Wszystkie wydarzenia tego dnia będą miały miejsce w budynkach i ogrodzie Akademii Sztuk Pięknych im. E. Gepperta we Wrocławiu przy ul. Traugutta 19/21. Program obejmuje pokazy i warsztaty, które są dobrze znane festiwalowej publiczności. Nie zabraknie również nowości takich, jak np. piec ceramiczny, nawiązujący do kształtu łodzi, który w momencie kulminacyjnym będzie sprawiał wrażenie, że unosi się w płomieniach.

W festiwalową niedzielę odbędzie się m.in. konferencja pt. „Proces z iskrą”. Zaproszeni do udziału artyści, a wśród nich międzynarodowi goście festiwalu, opowiedzą o swojej działalności artystycznej oraz procesie powstawania dzieł z wykorzystaniem wysokich temperatur. Będzie można posłuchać takich sław, jak: Tobias Flores, David Marquez, Karin Forslund, John Moran, Peter Hermanson, Simcha Even-Chen, Velimir Vukicevic, Alicja i Dmitrij Buławka-Fankidejscy.

Ponadto w tym roku kontynuujemy festiwalową tradycję konkursu na czarkę do herbaty. Wydarzenie ma zasięg międzynarodowy, a nadesłane prace będą prezentowane na wystawie w trakcie Festiwalu. Tegoroczna edycja konkursu pt. “Nie ma piękna bez cienia”, poświęcona jest pamięci Macieja Kasperskiego, Profesora ASP.
