US and Chinese Port Congestion
REMET ships globally thousands of tonnes of containerised materials. REMET currently notes delays and increased shipping rates as a result of port congestion at US and China ports of departure. Details and discussions of effects of ongoing congestion can be found on industry specific websites such as “loadstar”.
Ongoing delays are currently adding up to two weeks to shipping cycle, and customers are urged to consider increased lead times when ordering goods originating in Americas or South-East Asia.
Current industry opinion is that root causes are local equipment shortages, and that congestion will continue for a number of months.
