Alcohol Based

Ethyl Silicate Investment Casting Binders

Alcohol based, ethyl silicate binders were formerly the most common binder for the production of ceramic shells in the investment casting industry. Through an ammoniating process, ethyl silicate binders can gel rapidly through increasing the pH, decreasing shell drying times.

If your foundry is considering replacing alcohol based ethyl-silicate binders with water based, colloidal silica to reduce the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or improve the quality of your castings, have a look at our REMASOL® colloidal silica binders. Remet’s staff are experts in managing this conversion, delivering cost savings, process improvements and higher quality castings.
